The research work groups below are open to all interested faculty, residents, and fellows, and offer opportunities to connect with potential collaborators and mentors, generate ideas, and refine grantsmanship skills.

The Center for Videoendoscopic Surgery (CVES) is dedicated to the study, research, and minimally invasive surgical treatment of foregut diseases (GERD, esophageal and gastric cancer, gastrointestinal motility, obesity) and hernia. CVES also has a special interest in research and development of new technologies for minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and endoscopy, as well as active work in education and training in MIS. The Center sponsors a weekly meeting to review ideas, discuss projects, and track progress on various research topics. The meeting is open to the UW community. Faculty and trainees interested in collaborative research in this area are welcome to participate.
