Application Process

For Trauma-Surgical Critical Care

Applications are accepted, in the year prior to the start of the fellowship year, through the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship Application Service (SAFAS). The fellowship is recognized by the Surgical Critical Care Society of Program Directors (SCCPDS). Completed application reviews conclude by May 31st with interviews occurring from June until September. Applicants are matched through the NRMP matching system, which can be found at the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

A completed application consists of:

a)  An updated CV
b)  Complete ABSITE scores
c)  Three letters of recommendation
d)  A personal statement describing career goals and intent

For Burn-Surgical Critical Care

Applications are accepted, in the year prior to the start of the fellowship year, through the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship Application Service (SAFAS) Completed applications are reviewed and interviews are conducted in the spring prior to the start year. The Burn-Surgical Critical Care Track does NOT participate in the NRMP match program. Positions are offered on a rolling basis in this track.

b)  Complete ABSITE scores
c)  Three letters of recommendation
d)  A personal statement describing career goals and intent

For Cardiovascular-Surgical Critical Care

Applications are accepted, in the year prior to the start of the fellowship year, through the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship Application Service (SAFAS).
