Five major hospitals and the clinics of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) are integrated into the general surgery teaching program: University of Washington Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, Puget Sound Veterans Administration Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Northwest Hospital, and the SCCA. These hospitals have a combined total of just under 1600 beds of which approximately 20% are general surgical beds. Each hospital’s surgical service is staffed by full-time members of the faculty of the University of Washington School of Medicine.
The UW Medical Center is a 450-bed comprehensive care facility with more than 100 outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary specialty centers, including a new state-of-the-art Surgery Pavilion. The nearly 741 attending physicians at UWMC are also full-time faculty members at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Explore UWMC
