Kenneth Gow, MD, FACS, FAAP, is a board-certified surgeon at Seattle Children’s Hospital and a UW Professor of Surgery. Seattle Magazine and Seattle Metropolitan have named him one of Seattle's Top Doctors. He cares for patients in the Seattle area and also has a significant outreach effort traveling to Everett and Central Washington.
Dr. Gow's area of clinical expertise is in pediatric general and thoracic surgery. Dr. Gow performs surgical procedures on congenital lesions and vascular anomalies, with a focus on surgical oncology for conditions such as neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, melanoma, germ cell tumors, osteosarcoma metastases, and sentinel lymph node mapping. Dr. Gow feels the best aspect of his job is working with families to fix problems and provide children with meaningful change for the rest of their lives. Also, as the only surgeon in his group travelling to Central Washington to see and operate on children, he values providing patient care closer to home thereby saving significant time and expenses for families.
Within Seattle Children’s Hospital, Dr. Gow serves as Medical Director of the Vascular Access Service, which aims to improve the care of patients that have peripheral and central lines by improving delivery of care and reducing complications such as infections. On a national level, Dr. Gow serves on many committees including the Executive Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section on Surgery. This is an important committee which advocates for children needing surgical care across the entire country. Dr. Gow has helped give children a voice to state and national governments.
Dr. Gow is active in research with several focus areas: pediatric surgical oncology, design of surgical devices, and regional delivery of healthcare
Dr. Gow is currently completing a Master of Healthcare Administration degree to be able to work more closely with the leadership of the hospital to provide timely and quality pediatric surgery care to the region. In his free time, he enjoys graphic design, bicycling, and spending time at his children's sporting events.
