Dr. Montenovo’s primary research interest focuses on trying to elucidate a better way to preserve organs after harvesting. One such method he is exploring utilizes a normothermic machine perfusion (OCS) which is designed to maintain the donor liver in a near physiologic state. Dr. Montenovo is also interested in increasing the access to liver transplantation by using living donors, split livers and donors after circulatory arrest.
