Toronto, Canada

Undergraduate School:

University of Waterloo

Graduate School:

Yale University School of Medicine

Medical School:

Yale University School of Medicine

Bio:

I am originally from Toronto, Canada. After studying nanotechnology engineering in undergrad I decided I wanted to be closer to working with actual patients. I went to medical school at Yale and did an extra year focusing on large-database outcomes research in lung cancer. I completed a two-year T-32 fellowship at the Surgical Outcomes Research Center focusing on behavioral economics and decision making and in acute care surgery, developing patient decision aids for acute appendicitis, and respiratory complications after trauma. I am now finishing my clinical years and plan to pursue a fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care.

Personal Interests:

When not in the hospital you can find me walking in the parks with my family, running in the city or the trails, hiking/snowshoeing with my dog Brody, mountaineering, or cooking/camping/enjoying a glass of wine with my wife and friends.

Clinical Interests:

Trauma Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, Critical Care

Professional Activities:

Resident member of the American College of Surgeons, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, American Association for the Surgery of Trauma

Why UW?

The people! I love coming to work every day with my co-residents who make this an incredibly fun place to be. Also the setting, its amazing to be able to get out to the mountains so quickly and enjoy the natural world. Seattle pretty much has everything I could ask for.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

It’s all about working as a team with your senior residents and fellow interns. Do your best to support each other! Also, enjoy this beautiful place you get to live in as much as possible.

What do you like best about living in Seattle?

Access to the outdoors, great food. Also as a Canadian I get super excited when I see flowers starting to bloom in late February, its pretty novel for me still.
